Abstract

Fog computing is an approach used by Cloud service providers to provide better performance and quality of services to their customers. Fog computing is a technique that works seamlessly between the users and the Cloud service providers. It is used for various applications like Smart cities, smart grids, and healthcare. This kind of application can generate variable lengths of tasks at the user layer to the fog layer. These generated tasks need to be properly assigned to the suitable fog nodes because all types of tasks are relatively connected with QoS metrics like makespan, reliability, latency, energy consumption etc.,. Many authors proposed various scheduling algorithms for allotment of tasks to the right fog nodes. This paper focused on reviewing various authors' work related to scheduling of the various types of tasks with fog nodes based on the metrics. These metrics are compared and analyzed with other scheduling algorithms metrics. This comparison and evaluation of different metrics are used to identify the impact of one metric on another metric, so that researchers can focus on optimized metrics during the scheduling of various tasks with fog nodes.
