Abstract

Now days the whole world is moving towards light weight material. The world is not only looking for Light weight material but also looking for good performance of material. In the mechanical accepts good performance means tensile strength, compressive stress, hardness, density,% of elongation, impact, fatique life, wear rate, coefficient of friction etc. somehow these values are decreased due to introduction of MMC. Al metal matrix composite also shows better performance in this area. Now a day’s many researchers working on Hybrid composite material. The material is said to be Hybrid MMC if more than one reinforcement is added in the matrix. Due to introduction of this, mechanical properties, tribological properties of the material increased and the production cost of the material also decreased. For this reason, this material is used in automobile, defense, aerospace and marine industries. This paper represents a brief review on mechanical and tribological studies of Al6061 alloy based hybrid composite reinforced with B4C and graphene. In this paper, the effect of addition of reinforcement on the different properties of material was investigated. From the literature it is found that the Hardness, impact, tensile strength and compression strength increased due to addition of B 4 C and graphene. Hardness values of hybrid MMC increased with the addition of B 4 C and Graphene Weight %. But after increase in weight percentages of Graphene the value slowly increased. The wear loss and coefficient of friction decreased due to addition of graphene,B 4 C or combination of these two. These values go on decreasing with increase in weight percentages of reinforcement. But this values increase due to increase in load and sliding speed.
