Abstract

A new expression for the electron thermal transport which is an extension of Spitzer and Harm theory to the case of steep temperature gradient is presented. The effects of nonlocal properties of the temperature profile on the heat flux are taken into account by retaining the third order terms in Chapman-Enskog expansion, while Spitzer and Harm theory retains only the first order term. A. R. Bell et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett., 46 , (1981)] 243 have investigated the heat flux in steep temperature gradient by the Fokker-Planck equation. Their results are qualitatively investigated by our perturbation expansion analysis.
