Abstract

In this paper, a new scheme called an extended non-orthogonal multiple access (E-NOMA) is proposed, in which the effect of the inter-network interference is investigated. Even though the bandwidth efficiency challenge, as an uprising topic in 5G networks, is ameliorated by proposing NOMA schemes, their performances extensively suffer from interference. Such interferences make errors in users’ estimated signals and also spread error propagation through successive interference cancellation (SIC) process. E-NOMA network exploits the spectrum sensing (SS) scheme to mitigate inter-network interferences. The analytical and simulation results demonstrate that compared with conventional NOMA and TDMA as an orthogonal multiple access (OMA), not only the detection performance in E-NOMA improves but also the throughput of the whole network increases.
