Abstract

We present a hypoplastic model for the granular material to account for the particle breakage effect. The degree of particle breakage is expressed by a relative breakage ratio, which evolves with the input energy during the loading process. The critical state line of the model is related to the relative breakage ratio to reflect the influence of particle breakage on the mechanical behavior of soil. The model performance is demonstrated by comparing the model simulations with the experimental results under different test conditions.
