Abstract

The shape-consistent oscillator model is extended to triaxial nuclei. An application to 24Mg shows results similar to those from a variation-after-projection Hartree-Fock calculation with realistic forces. The observed trends of B(E2) values within a band seem to be consistent with self-consistent shape changes but greater experimental accuracy is needed for a more definite conclusion.
