Abstract

Constitution as a codification of rules and peremptory norms that guarantee democratic values and principles of constitutionalism is the first requirement of constitutional governance. This article expose the principles of liberal constitutionalism which is hailed as the highest constitutional ideal in the modern times. It briefly discusses the practice of this principle in three jurisdictions, namely in Australia, India and Singapore and relates how rule of law is an essential indicator of the exercise of constitutional governance.
