AN EXPLORATORY STUDY TO ASSESS THE PREVALNCE AND CONTRIBITING FACTORS OF SOCIAL ANXIETY AMONG ADOLSCENTS RESIDING IN SELECTED COMMUNITY AREA AT MEERUT

Abstract

Statement of the study An exploratory study to assess the prevalence and contributing factors of social anxiety among adolescents residing in a selected community area at Meerut. Objective:- 1. To assess the prevalence of social anxiety among adolescents 2. To identify contributing factors of social Anxiety among adolescents 3. To find out the association between level of social Anxiety with selected demographic variables Methododlogy: A quantitative research approach and descriptive research design was used in this study. Sample size is 60 in the age group of adolescents, which is having categories ( early, middle, late ) adolescents was selected by purposive sampling technique. The gathered data was analyzed by the using of descriptive and inferential statistics. Result: The finding shows that out of 60 sample , 21(35%) are having moderate social anxiety, 26(43.4%) are having marked social anxiety, 13(21.6%) are having severe social anxiety. Conclusion: The study revealed that most of the adolescents are having marked social anxiety. There was no significant relation between the sociodemographic variable and the social anxiety.
