Abstract

As an example of the successful AI applications in the modelling of protection operations in the Hungarian power system, 1–3 this paper gives a brief description of the MPSSS (MultiPurpose Substation Simulator Shell) projects running at the EROTERV Company (Power Plant & Network Engineering Co.), Budapest. The system simulates typical substations and quasi-independent parts of a network, and is applied on PCs, loosely coupled to large control systems. The AI language used is Prolog, implemented in a traditional environment (C, Fortran).
