Abstract

Lightning fire is an important causes of forest fire. With the global warming, lightning fire tends to increase. In this paper, the characteristics of a lightning strike wood were investigated. The damage of lightning strike wood can be divided into two forms: linear split and explosion. In addition, the effect of three kinds of ash composition on the soil resistance was measured. The soil containing Agropyron cristatum $(L.)$ Gaertn. ash had the lowest electrical resistance. The impulse voltage generator and impulse current generator were used to measure the breakdown voltage and lightning critical ignition energy of different grass beds. Compared with the other three grass beds, the breakdown voltage of Agropyron cristatum $(L.)$ Gaertn. bed was the smallest. The lightning critical ignition energy of Medicago sativa. bed was the smallest. This paper provides a quantitative way to understand the lightning fire and will help to prevent the lightning fire.
