Abstract

Abstract This study investigates on the introduction of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer wrap (GFRP) on the existing concrete element. For this study the concrete specimens of cube, cylinder and column are cast in a concrete grade of M40 and the structural behavior of RC column retrofitted with GFRP wraps are investigated including the Compressive strength, split tensile strength, load deflection behavior, ultimate load carrying capacity etc. The properties of concrete with GFRP sheet wrapping was compared to the conventional concrete. From the study, it was concluded that there is considerable improvements in the load carrying capacity due to GFRP wrapping.
