Abstract

Objective To explore whether the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway exists in rat dorsal root ganglia neurons. Methods Rat dorsal root ganglia neurons were cultured ex vivo.Immunofluorescence histochemistry and real time fluorescence quantitative PCR were employed to detect the expression of Smad molecules in the rat DRG neurons and to test the influence of TGF-β1 on gene transcription of Smads. Results TβR1,Smad2 and Smad4 were expressed in DRG neurons of rats. The gene expression of these molecules in DRG neurons was regulated by TGF-β1.Conclusion The TGF β1/ Smad signaling pathway exists in rat dorsal root ganglia neurons. Key words: Rats; Dorsal root ganglia; Neurons; TGF beta 1/Smad signal pathway
