Abstract

An experimental study has been conducted on spray flash evaporation occurring in a superheated water jet injected through a circular tube nozzle into a low-pressure vapor zone. The effects of superheat, flow rate and nozzle diameter on spray flashing were pursued at 60°C jet inlet temperature. From the experimental results, an empirical equation suitable for predicting the variation of liquid temperature with residence time was deduced.
