Abstract

SUMMARY Intravenous injection of dialyzed penicillin-treated homologous serum produces anaphylaxis in guinea pigs sensitized either actively by a previous injection of this preparation, or passively by serum from a rabbit which had received injections of penicillin in Freund's Complete Adjuvant. In both cases, the intravenous administration of large doses of penicillin produces no adverse effect, but inhibits anaphylaxis on later challenge with penicillin-treated serum.
