Abstract
Solubility of silver was measured in aqueous solutions of NaCl(KCl) and HCl with controlled hydrogen fugacity over a temperature range 400-500°C and a pressure range of 0.5-2.5 kbars. The constants of the reaction: Ag ( k ) + Cl − + HCl 0 = AgCl 2 ∘ + 0.5 H 2 ( g ) https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780203734049/8ccf6b8f-3ccf-4e19-b1d7-52ac3eb44ef1/content/eq540.tif"/> have been obtained and the values of ∆g°T,P(HCl) have been retrieved. The dissociation constants of HCl calculated are consistent with data of Sverjensky et al. (1991), but differ from constants given by Frantz & Marshall (1984) at low pressures. It is suggested that the HKF-model parameters be used to describe the thermodynamic properties of HCl(aq) at 25-700°C temperatures and pressures up to 4 kbars.
