Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the curing technique on the application of HVGGBFS (High volume ground granulated blast furnace slag) to improve the mechanical properties of concrete. The mechanical properties of the HVGGBFS concrete were evaluated considering the influence of curing time and different curing methods. In this study, a compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength tests were conducted on mixtures of 0, 50 and 60% replacement of cement with GGBFS (Ground granulated blast furnace slag) in concrete and were cured in different curing techniques. The specimens were cured through water immersion, steam curing, high pressure steam curing, curing by using compound, lime water curing and curing by using super absorbent polymers (SAP). The results of this study showed that the addition of 50% GGBFS in concrete significantly increased its mechanical property. According to this study, the HVGGBFS concrete cured under lime water curing enhances maximum strength compared to water curing methods.
