Abstract

An experimental search, supported by SPICE simulation, of certain configurations of Class C bipolar transistor RF amplifier suggests that frequency division and chaos can occur in this type of circuit. SPICE simulations, qualitatively supporting experimental observations of such frequency division and chaos, are resented. ossible mechanisms giving rise to the chaos are discussed. The importance of this henomenon for RF circuit designers is that such amplifiers can thereby generate a large amount of noise-like ower across a broad band of frequencies, thus giving rise to interference roblems in communication systems
