Abstract

A slow speed (1? in/s) magnetic tape reproducer is described which uses endless loop cassettes in the form of magazines, inserted in a slot in the machine case. The playing time is 96 minutes using four tracks on ? in. tape. Two-sided tape may be used. The machine is primarily intended for use by blind people and simplicity of operation has been emphasized. This particular machine was designed to reproduce speech only, and the tape transport mechanism and magazine construction are very straightforward and easily manufactured. Methods of producing the loop copies are discussed.
