Abstract

In this paper, a linear force model was applied to investigate the cutting force coefficients in flat-end milling process. Six components of cutting force coefficients were determined by experimental results. This method can be applied to calculate the cutting force coefficients of Al6061-T6 for a series of cutters. The significance of each cutting force coefficient was evaluated. The shear force coefficients are the most important coefficients in calculation of cutting forces. The effect of cutter diameter on each cutting force coefficient was investigated.
