Abstract

The phenomenon of ionic transport in the case of two different mixed systems (CuI) (1− x )–(Ag 2WO 4) x (0.15⩽ x⩽0.6) and (CuI) (1− y )–(Ag 2CrO 4) y (0.15⩽ y⩽0.5) has been investigated. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis coupled with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), FT-Raman and electrical transport studies involving ionic transport number and temperature-dependent electrical conductivity measurements have been carried out in order to identify the various phases responsible for the conduction process. The occurrence of typical ionic conductivity values of 4.5×10 −3 Scm −1 for the composition (CuI) 0.45–(Ag 2WO 4) 0.55 and 1.1×10 −4 Scm −1 in the case of (CuI) 0.55–(Ag 2CrO 4) 0.45 at room temperature has been discussed in terms of the observed characteristics.
