Abstract

This study presents experimental results for flow boiling heat transfer of refrigerants R-141b and R-1234yf and water in horizontal microchannel heat exchangers. Distributions of local heat transfer coefficients along the length of the microchannels were measured in the range of heat fluxes up to 220 kW/m2 for refrigerants and up to 6000 kW/m2 for water. Comparisons with predictions according to the model of saturated flow boiling heat transfer for refrigerants and subcooled flow boiling heat transfer for water are reported for the presented data.
