Abstract
Summary 1.An experimental program in teaching comprehensive pediatrics to first year pediatric interns in a large children's hospital is described, including the difficulties and resistances encountered, and the methodology of dealing with them. 2.The teaching was done on an individual basis with the interns having regular appointments with the child psychiatrist, and these meetings were compulsory to the extent that ward rounds were compulsory in that the physician-in-chief expected the interns to attend. 3.The collected data indicate that there may be a correlation between quality of over-all work and willingness to participate in such a program, and that this is a relationship worthy of further study. 4.The program was based on the principles laid down by the Committee of Child Psychiatry of the Group for Advancement of Psychiatry, and these principles would seem to work well providing they are adapted to the individual setting.
