Abstract
Bionic chair is a portable device that looks similar to a chair which lets you to sit on it wherever and whenever you want. This ergonomically designed and flexible device appears more or less like an exoskeleton that spreads from the hip and moving towards the backside of the feet. It can adapt to various body sizes. Its envisioned use is for the employees working in different organizations who need to stand for a long period of time at work and many times lean into peculiar positions to assemble or fabricate a product. For these types of workers, quality of life in the firms is improved whereas the firms will also benefit the reduction of work related aches to the workers. By using the bionic chair, users can walk with the support for sitting without hindering the workspace. Subsequently, they can avoid strenuous postures like bending, crouching or squatting. It is absolutely intended to reduce the fatigue of the worker and work related accidents thereby improving productivity. It can be customized to fit all sizes and outfits. For an industry, space management is an important factor. Unnecessary chairs and resting places can be avoided by maximizing the use of bionic chair. Such spaces can be utilized for several other purposes. This paper attempts in design and fabrication of an exoskeleton bionic chair using simple link mechanism.
