Abstract

Using the theory of optical absorption by free Frohlich polarons, the excited states of the electronic polaron complex are computed. Both the free and bound complexes are discussed. A simple model of bound case is also presented. Optical absorption due to the interaction of electron and polarization field yields the creation of electronic polarons with the resonant emission of a longitudinal exciton, beginning at about twice the exciton frequency. Peaks corresponding to this absorption had been identified with plasma excitations.
