Abstract

In gamma-TiAl, the critical resolved shear stress (CRSS) for <110]slip is larger than the CRSS for <011] slip, by a factor of approximately two. This letter gives a simple explanation for this numerical relationship, by making use of the properties in the dissociation structures of 1<110] ordinary dislocations and 2 <011] superlattice dislocations.
