Abstract

Chemically bound humic acid (CBHA) has been prepared by immobilization of humic acid on silica gel. The adsorptive properties of CBHA, as judged by the uptake of 125I−1, are quite distinct from either the parent silica gel, used to model the silicate shell in soil or a combusted soil which was used to model the metal oxide phase of soil.
