Abstract

After conceptually defining and empirically determining the structure of 52 informal decision units, this paper, building on extant contingency related research, investigates their decision-making potential. From these results suspicion is cast upon the efficacy of bureaucratic variables in this context. Specifically, threats to construct and internal validity are discussed.
