Abstract

As it pursued its plans to design and construct a critical sewer pipeline, the city of Springfield, Ohio, had to make numerous changes to the project’s complex alignment to address the concerns of multiple stakeholders. A proactive focus on planning and risk identification in the design phase helped manage costs during the life of the project despite many challenges during design and unforeseen conditions arising after construction had begun.
