Abstract

In tele-communication over the Internet, it is effective to display the existence of participants in real scene by super-quality video streaming between remote sites in order to realize the high-realistic sensation. However, the effective solution has not been still proposed even though the ordinary presence and the realistic sensation in real environment have been insufficient in commonly-used telecommunication system. As approach to solve the issue, it is expected to achieve high-realistic sensation communication with a natural sense by specifying the factor which improve the realistic sensation. However, the detailed analyses and evaluation for the realistic sensation that participants feel in tele-communication have not conducted, the useful knowledge has not obtained sufficiently. In existing researches, we have studied on the construction of the tele-immersive communication environment by tiled display wall which is a technology to display ultra-resolution video by configuring the large-scale display with two or more LCD panels. In this paper, we have conducted an experimental evaluation to analyze in detail on the realistic sensation effect to participants that feels over tele-communication in ultra-resolution video tele-communication environment with tiled display wall between Osaka University and Iwate Prefectural University via JGN testbed. As these results, we have obtained some knowledge to improve the realistic sensation in tele-communication.
