Abstract

Enhanced p-nitrobenzoic acid metabolism by liver homogenates from DDT-treated rats vs control rats was not evident when the enzyme activity was measured by the procedure used by Kinoshita et al. (1966). However, a marked enhancement of p-nitrobenzoic acid metabolism by the same homogenates was seen if the NADP concentration and/or if the homogenate concentration and NADP concentration were increased. When comparing control livers with livers from animals treated with inducers it is important to study how the results may depend on the amount of enzyme and/or cofactors added.
