Abstract

AimTo evaluate Tag Team Patient Safety Simulation in managing, resourcing, and scale simulation learning with large student cohorts. MethodThe Tag Team Patient Safety Simulation method was used in three scenarios in a cohort of (N = 392) year 3 nursing students. The experience was evaluated using the Satisfaction with Simulation Experience Scale and analyzed with descriptive statistics. Students also provided qualitative comment. FindingsThe process of Tag Team Patient Safety Simulation was effective in creating engagement with high satisfaction in all elements of the experience. DiscussionStudents found the process supported a positive learning environment, was straightforward and easy. Some students felt a smaller team allocated to tag into and out of the action would have enabled a greater opportunity to participate. ConclusionTag Team Patient Safety Simulation is a technique suitable to create active engagement with nursing students in simulation designed to test clinical reasoning and critical thinking.
