Abstract

Splitless and on-column injectors were evaluated for use in quantitative multi-residue analysis of priority micropollutants by wall-coated open-tubular gas chromatography. Under limited conditions some splitless injectors yield quantitative results. However, on-column injection devices have a broader range of applicability and yield better precision and accuracy. For quantitation of wide boiling range mixtures, such as polychlorinated biphenyls, at picogram levels, on-column injection devices are the only ones which yield satisfactory results.
