Abstract
Abnormal resonant overvoltages occur due to the emergence of non-sinusoidal modes of bulk electrical networks. The considered type of overvoltage refers to durable internal overvoltages, which have characteristics that can exceed the maximum permissible magnitude with a certain correlation of the values of the parameters of the extra high voltage power transmission line 750 kV. A typical example of a non-sinusoidal mode of operation of an extra high voltage line is the mode of switching on the line to an unloaded autotransformer. It should be noted that this mode is accompanied not only by resonant overvoltages, but also by inrush currents of magnetization. As a result, modern developers of controlled switching devices should choose switch-on settings for successful solution of two tasks: suppression of inrush current and resonant overvoltage. The paper analyzes the effect of remanent magnetization of an unloaded autotransformer on resonant overvoltages. To remove the remanent magnetization of the autotransformer, a set of effective measures for suppressing resonant overvoltages has been proposed.
