Abstract

Endodontic instruments were placed in teeth in 16 block sections of human mandibles from cadavers. Identical radiographs of the specimens were made on Kodak Ultraspeed and Ektaspeed X-ray films for comparison. Measurements of instruments on Ektaspeed films were not significantly different from measurements made on Ultraspeed films. Direct measurements of instruments in the extracted teeth were not significantly different from measurements made from the films when instruments were placed short of the apices. However, direct measurements of instruments in the extracted teeth were significantly different from measurements from the films when instruments were placed beyond the apices.
