Abstract
Frame masks in immobilizing patient receiving radiation treatment to head and neck patients. Method/Process: 210 orthogonal kV images were analyzed. 95 images were from eight patients treated on the QFix PortraitTM Head and Neck Device with the Head and Shoulder S-Frame masks and 115 images were from eight patients treated on the QFix AccufixTM with the Slimline U-Frame Extended masks. Both groups have an inferior straightening tattoo. One of the eight Portrait board patients had a bilateral treatment, which resulted in 99 points collected in total. The displacements of the ipsilateral shoulder from the DRR were measured by matching the mid clavicle. Results/Benefits/Challenges: The results have shown that patients on the QFix AccufixTM board had a greater magnitude of shoulder displacement compared to the portrait board. In fact, 83% of patients on the QFix PortraitTM had shoulder shifts of three millimeters or less whereas nearly 70% of patients’ shoulder on the QFix AccufixTM board shifted greater than three millimeter. Conclusion/Impact/Outcomes: These results show that the frequency and magnitude of the shoulder displacement are minimized when using the QFix PortraitTM board.
