Abstract
Introduction: Intraoperative analysis of Sentinel lymph-nodes (SLN) allows, if indicated, axillary clearance to be done during primary surgery thus avoiding a second procedure. Recent advances in preoperative axillary node staging have reduced the percentage of positive sentinel node biopsies with significant impact on theatre utilization. We evaluated a tool to identify a group of patients in whom routine intra-operative analysis of SLN can be avoided.
