Abstract

From measurements of AC dissipation loss factor (tgd), shock wave partial discharges, and DC insulation tests performed on 150 kV distribution network measuring transformers, valuable and accurate information can be given for the insulation condition of the winding dielectric material. In conjuction with the initial dielectric routine and type tests, it is possible to predict the maximum life limit of the transformer. This method is applicable to electrical network equipment bearing any kind of dielectric material (mainly to transmission and distribution transformers).
