Abstract
In this study, 61 wild plant taxa belonging to 30 families that are used as medicine are documented in Keban (Elazog). The most encountered medicinal plant families were Lamiaceae (10 taxa), Asteraceae (8 taxa), Fabaceae (6 taxa) and Rosaceae (5 taxa), the most common preparations were infusion and decoction. These folk medicinal plants are mostly used for treatment of kidney stones, colds and flu, analgesic, cough, for skin and diabetes diseases. Mentha longifolia (L.) Huds. subsp. typhoides (Briq.) Harley var. typhoides , Salvia syriaca L., Rosa canina L., Thymus kotschyanus Boiss. & Hohen. var. kotschyanus , Portulaca oleracea L. and Rumex acetosella L. were the plants most used by the local people in Keban, Turkey.
