Abstract

A method for estimating the fracture strength of a composite pressure vessel is proposed. The analysis is based upon the statistical approach and extrapolation method by regressing the experimental results of preimpregnated yarn, coupon and Naval Ordnance Laboratory (NOL) ring specimens. It is found that the use of the proposed method to predict the in-composite fiber strength for the large composite structures seems quite feasible.
