Abstract

Abstract A single crystal of bis(β-alaninato)copper(II) hexahydrate (Cu(β-ala)2·6H2O) was prepared and measured by ESR. As the dehydration of Cu(β-ala)2·6H2O from the surface of the crystal is well known, the behaviour of the dehydration by three different drying methods was studied by ESR and it was found that the change from the dx2−y2 ground-state to the dz2 ground-state takes place.
