Abstract

The aim of this paper is to develop a simplified technique based on the substructure model to simulate nonlinearity owing to soil liquefaction in soil–structure systems. A model has been developed to establish a correlation between the excess pore-water pressure ratio, the cumulative absolute velocity, and the soil shear modulus in liquefiable soils to evaluate the dynamic stiffness of the soil-foundation system in the Cone method for analyzing a soil–structure system using substructure approach. Several Multi-Degree of Freedom systems are considered. The results show that liquefaction may change the results by up to 28 times in different conditions.
