Abstract

Recently, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has made significant progress, which raises new challenges in electromagnetic (EM) protection. The UAV positioning module is sensitive to electromagnetic interference (EMI) but few works have been reported on its immunity testing. In this letter, an equivalent dynamic test system is designed based on the bulk current injection (BCI) method, in order to test the UAV positioning module under working state. A forward system is designed and implemented which is capable of bringing in the GPS signal for the positioning module. The immunity test is carried out and a series of functional failures have been observed. The immunity characteristics of the working-state positioning module is obtained which shows its susceptibility from 450MHz to 800MHz. Finally, an equivalent dynamic test is conducted, showing the influence of EMI on the ability of detecting GPS signals and the horizontal dilution of precision (HDOP) of the positioning module.
