Abstract

In order to reduce power consumption of wireless communication devices, many techniques concerned with complex filters have been proposed. Because the Current Feedback Operational Amplifier (CFOA) is an attractive active element from the viewpoints of its bandwidth and dynamic range, many complex filters using CFOAs have been proposed in recent years. In this paper, an equivalent circuit of a complex prototype filter and its active realization using CFOAs are proposed. Even though the proposed circuit has the same attenuation characteristics as the conventional one, the number of the required active elements of the proposed circuit is less than 60% of those of the conventional one. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed through computer simulation and comparison concerned with the number of the required elements.
