Abstract

Equipment for exploration by the induced polarisation method based on pulse transient technique is described. The equipment is simple, inexpensive and uses transistorised circuitry for switchings. The exact nature of overvoltage decay as a function of time is recorded for the estimation of chargeability. The current on-off period and delay time of recording overvoltage decay are adjustable. Field results show that the equipment can be utilised for investigations up to a depth of about 150 m in the case of a 5 % chalcopyrite ore body in an area where the ground resistivity is about 400 Ωm. The depth is, however, greater in an area of higher ground resistivity and in the case of disseminated ores.
