Abstract
This paper introduces the concept of Epigenetic Economic Dynamics (EED), which is understood as the study of the dynamics generated as a result of the adaptation of organizations to major changes in their respective environments (Gomez-Uranga et al., 2014). One of our objectives when putting forth the concept of Epigenetic Economic Dynamics (EED) is to explain situations found in real life and where the changes in the environment are extremely rapid and have a great impact.Our aim is to bring the methodological tools of the economics of organizations and territories into the concept of epigenetics and test it with new biologist and environmentalist approaches that economic geographers have used in the last years.In this paper we aim to introduce this concept in the emerging field of economic geography and illustrate how this approach can also complement existing approaches, concepts and theories being used in such scientific discipline. We also aim to highlight the multi-level nature of the concept since its use can be extended to organizational environments, as well as regional contexts.
