Abstract

Summary A new Helmholtz energy equation is developed for high-pressure aqueous electrolyte systems, and a corresponding equation of state (EOS) is derived. The model parameters are determined from ionic activity coefficient and vapor/liquid equilibrium data of binary and ternary mixtures. The new EOS predictions of the solubilities of pure gas and natural gas mixtures in brines show satisfactory agreement with measured experimental data.
