An Enterprise Architecture Framework for Integrating the Multiple Perspectives of Business Processes

Abstract

AbstractExisting business process design strategies do not address the full breadth and depth characteristics of business processes. Multiple perspectives of business process design must be supported and integrated. Enterprise architecture frameworks provide a useful context to define and categorise these multiple perspectives. Levels of abstraction of business, systems and technology represent the lifecycle phase ranging from business requirements definition through to execution. Different deliverables are relevant to each level of abstraction. The business architecture consists of a set of modeling perspectives (process, activity, resource and management) that represent types of business requirements. The technology architecture defines a classification of execution architectural styles. The systems architecture consists of a meta-model that defines the fundamental concepts underlying business requirements definition facilitating the integration of multiple modeling perspectives and mapping to multiple execution architectural styles, thereby facilitating execution of the business requirements.Keywordsenterprise architecture frameworkbusiness process modeling perspectives
