Abstract

This article proposes an enhanced Reddy's model for composite plates subjected to temperature load. Compared to the classical Reddy's theory, transverse normal strain is considered in the proposed model. Based on the proposed model, a triangular plate element is presented, in which the interelement C1 continuity conditions are satisfied. For finite element implementation, it is found that although transverse normal deformation is considered, displacement variables have not increased since thermal loads could be included in the generalized force vector. From the results of some classical problems, the proposed model shows a substantial improvement in stresses and displacements over Reddy's model.
