Abstract

In this paper, the enhanced operation of Photovoltaic (PV) integrated distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) is proposed. In the proposed system, when solar energy is available, PV power is used to maintain the dc-link voltage, and the excess power is supplied to the grid by extracting maximum power based on Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithm. Whereas, when PV power is not available, a reference dc-link voltage control scheme is proposed based on the connected load on the AC grid, and thus reduces the power losses in voltage source inverter (VSI) and enhance the PV-DSTATCOM operation. The control signals for the VSI are generated based on the Synchronous reference frame (SRF) control scheme. Finally, the performance of PV-DSTATCOM is validated by MATLAB simulation results.
