Abstract

Pt and metal oxide hybrid catalysts based on strong metal support interactions have been proved to be an effective way to improve oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) performance of Pt. In this work, Pt/CeO2/CNT-A triple junction interface catalyst was obtained by atomic layer deposition. Compared with Pt/CeO2/CNT-W (wet chemical method) and Pt/C, Pt/CeO2/CNT-A shows the highest catalytic activity and stability for ORR. As expected, the enhanced ORR performance can be attributed to unique triple junction interface structure which Pt has contact with CNT and ultra-small CeO2. Therefore, ALD method could be a promising strategy to construct effective triple junction interface.
